Recent, drastic changes put forth by the Nevada Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has resulted in some possibly unintended consequences, including two top solar companies leaving the state.<\/p>\n
Following the recently revised statewide policies regarding solar<\/strong><\/a>, which included rolling back their net metering fees and passing some costs back to the solar customers themselves, both SolarCity and Sunrun announced hundreds of job cuts<\/strong><\/a> in the state.<\/p>\n\n Despite the fact that the state of Nevada has the most solar power potential of any state in the U.S.<\/strong>\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">the most solar power potential of any state in the U.S.<\/strong><\/strong><\/a>, many experts now question whether solar will continue to be an option or come to a grinding halt in the state.<\/p>\n Because the majority of the changes to policy that the Nevada PUC made deal with net metering fees and other costs that can be passed down the chain, residential rooftop solar customers<\/strong><\/a> are likely the ones most likely to be affected by the modifications.<\/p>\n According to The Guardian<\/strong><\/a>, new fees outlined by the Nevada PUC fee effectively eliminates the monthly savings that NV solar users typically see on their electricity bills.<\/p>\n It’s simple math,” Bryan Miller, president of the Alliance for Solar Choice, told The Guardian<\/strong><\/a>. “The commission eliminated all solar savings.
