SoCalGas has had a hard time stopping the leak, as it buried deep underground.<\/p>\n<p>A number of local residents have also complained of various ailments that may be related to the ongoing leak, and now multiple parties are coming after the company legally.<\/p>\n<div id=\"inlink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/california-governor-declares-state-of-emergency-due-to-natural-gas-leak\/\" title=\"California Governor declares state of emergency due to natural gas leak\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Aliso_Canyon_gas_leak_site_Dec._14_2015_23389378449-150x150.jpg\" title=\"California Governor declares state of emergency due to natural gas leak\" alt=\"California Governor declares state of emergency due to natural gas leak\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/california-governor-declares-state-of-emergency-due-to-natural-gas-leak\/\" title=\"California Governor declares state of emergency due to natural gas leak\"><h4>California Governor declares state of emergency due to natural gas leak<\/h4><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/california-governor-declares-state-of-emergency-due-to-natural-gas-leak\/\" title=\"California Governor declares state of emergency due to natural gas leak\" class=\"hide375\">Read more<\/a><\/div>\n<h3>Los Angeles County<\/h3>\n<p>Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced this week that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/losangeles\/news\/2016\/02\/03\/ag-harris-sues-socal-gas-over-leak-la-county-da.html\" title=\"SoCalGas will face criminal charges\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>SoCalGas will face criminal charges<\/strong><\/a> for failing to immediately report the leak to authorities in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<h3>California Attorney General<\/h3>\n<p>California Attorney General Kamala Harris <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/lanow\/la-me-attorney-general-lawsuit-aliso-canyon-leak-20160202-story.html\" title=\"also announced a lawsuit against SoCalGas\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>also announced a lawsuit against SoCalGas<\/strong><\/a> this week, alleging that the utility company violated health codes, safety codes, public nuisance laws and also failed to report hazardous materials appropriately. The suit seeks civil penalties.<\/p>\n<h3>Private parties<\/h3>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scpr.org\/news\/2016\/02\/03\/57224\/porter-ranch-leak-socal-gas-is-facing-a-wrongful-d\/\" title=\"wrongful death lawsuit\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>wrongful death lawsuit<\/strong><\/a> was also brought against SoCalGas this week by the family of Zelda Rothman, who died on January 25.
