The court brief detailed the companies combined outlook on the Clean Power Plan and the timing of putting pieces of the Plan into motion.<\/p>\n<h3>Time is of the essence<\/h3>\n<p>The four companies, through their joint filing, made it clear that they support quick action regarding the Clean Power Plan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edf.org\/sites\/default\/files\/content\/2016.04.01_major_tech_companies_amicus_brief_for_epa.pdf\" title=\"court brief\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>court brief<\/strong><\/a>: &#8220;&#8230; delaying action on climate change will be costly in economic and human terms, while accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy will produce multiple benefits with regard to sustainable economic growth, public health, resilience to natural disasters, and the health of the global environment.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon voice support for Obama\u2019s Clean Power Plan: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Et3EGDsX2x\">https:\/\/t.co\/Et3EGDsX2x<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; EDF (@EnvDefenseFund) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EnvDefenseFund\/status\/715958366850441217\">April 1, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h3>Environmental &amp; economic benefits<\/h3>\n<p>The group of tech giants also made a clear statement about their belief that implementation of the Clean Power Plan will provide both environmental and economic benefits.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edf.org\/sites\/default\/files\/content\/2016.04.01_major_tech_companies_amicus_brief_for_epa.pdf\" title=\"court brief\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>court brief<\/strong><\/a>: &#8220;By limiting emissions of carbon dioxide (&#8220;CO2&#8243;) from existing fossil fuel-fired power plants, the [Clean Power Plan] will help address climate change by reinforcing current trends that are making renewable energy supplies more robust, more reliable, and more affordable.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Plan stalled<\/h3>\n<p>President Barak Obama announced the final version on the Clean Power Plan &#8212; which aims to reduce CO2 emissions from electricity generation by 32 percent by 2020 &#8212; on August 3, 2015.
