Renewable electricity generation increased 16 percent from 2014 to 2015, while installed renewable electricity capacity in the country rose 5.5 percent on a yearly basis.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, wind energy generation rose 21.2 percent year-over-year, and hyropower generation increased 7.2 percent from 2014 to 2015.<\/p>\n<h3>Renewable sources power a quarter of the UK<\/h3>\n<p>Scotland is not alone. Significant progress in switching to renewable sources of energy has been made in countries around the globe, and the United Kingdom (UK) overall has seen remarkable collective growth. <\/p>\n<p>A recent report from the UK&#8217;s Department of Energy &#038; Climate Change revealed that a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-wisdom.com\/news\/renewable-energy-now-powers-nearly-a-quarter-of-uks-energy\/\" title=\"record amount\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>record amount<\/strong><\/a> of electricity generated in the UK in 2015 &#8212; 24.7 percent &#8212; came from renewable sources.
