{"id":69,"date":"2015-12-15T08:20:47","date_gmt":"2015-12-15T13:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/?p=69"},"modified":"2015-12-14T16:10:37","modified_gmt":"2015-12-14T21:10:37","slug":"businesses-are-choosing-solar-power-more-than-ever-before","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/businesses-are-choosing-solar-power-more-than-ever-before\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses are choosing solar power more than ever before"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. businesses are turning to solar energy for power needs more than ever before, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) detailed in a recent report.<\/p>\n<p>The SEIA took an in-depth look at the state of solar power in relation to U.S. corporations and the results were eye-popping.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SolarMeansBiz?src=hash\">#SolarMeansBiz<\/a> report shows <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/solar?src=hash\">#solar<\/a> growth has surged 183% in 4 yrs among America&#39;s top companies! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SolarIsNow?src=hash\">#SolarIsNow<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SluzzoLW6T\">https:\/\/t.co\/SluzzoLW6T<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Solar Industry (@SEIA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SEIA\/status\/671726617849438208\">December 1, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Among the findings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>U.S. businesses have installed enough solar to offset 890,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.<\/li>\n<li>Commercial photovoltaic (PV) system prices are currently the lowest they&#8217;ve ever been.<\/li>\n<li>The average cost of a commercial solar system is almost 30 percent less than it was 3 years ago.<\/li>\n<li>Commercial solar installations now exist in 38 states, plus Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"inlink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/solar-will-generate-more-than-1-percent-of-u-s-electricity-by-the-end-of-2015\/\" title=\"Solar will generate more than 1 percent of U.S. electricity by the end of 2015\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/solar-panels-orange_ty6h3g4-150x150.jpg\" title=\"Solar will generate more than 1 percent of U.S. electricity by the end of 2015\" alt=\"Solar will generate more than 1 percent of U.S. electricity by the end of 2015\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/solar-will-generate-more-than-1-percent-of-u-s-electricity-by-the-end-of-2015\/\" title=\"Solar will generate more than 1 percent of U.S. electricity by the end of 2015\"><h4>Solar will generate more than 1 percent of U.S. electricity by the end of 2015<\/h4><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/utilitieslocal.com\/news\/solar-will-generate-more-than-1-percent-of-u-s-electricity-by-the-end-of-2015\/\" title=\"Solar will generate more than 1 percent of U.S. electricity by the end of 2015\" class=\"hide375\">Read more<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Solar expanding its reach<\/h2>\n<p>Solar installations occurred in Arkansas, Kansas and Indiana, not just in markets that are considered traditional solar markets like California, Arizona and New Jersey, the SEIA noted.<\/p>\n<h2>Walmart, Walgreens, IKEA sit at the top of the charts<\/h2>\n<p>According to the SEIA, Walmart grabbed the top spot number of solar projects and total capacity within the category of U.S. businesses.
